Bible verses Interpretation : James 3:5-6

James 3:5-6 KJV (King James Version)

Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.


James 3:5-6 NIV (New International Version )

Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.




James 3:5-6 ERV (Easy to read version)

It is the same with our tongue. It is a small part of the body, but it can boast about doing great things. A big forest fire can be started with only a little flame. The tongue is like a fire. It is a world of evil among the parts of our body. It spreads its evil through our whole body and starts a fire that influences all of life. It gets this fire from hell.



My interpretation

Well started with the book of James, It talks about how James writes about the warning that judgment is real and that we all stumble, and also to keep in mind that we should repent from our sinful comments and actions.In verse 5-6 it talks about how the tongue is a very powerful part, It can give you life or it can give you destruction.Boasting can destruct not only you but with other people too.I could make them covet (or want ) what you have, or what they did.The example talking about how the tongue of evil can spread like wildlife and, even a little flame can make a big forest fire.That means even the tongue can influence everyone around you can either give them life or destruction. This fire is from sin we had spoken out into other people.
